Notes on using Gnuplot

Gnuplot is a very useful program when you have large amounts of data, or are repeating graphs on different data sets.

The idea is the you write a script and then run gnuplot with the script as an input file. On windows you can use the GUI version which feels more like a windows application.

Gnuplot can integrate with Latex in a couple of ways. The simplest is to have a png output and then include the image in your thesis. If you are keen on the graphs you can use the pslatex output format which will create a latex file with the graph using normal latex text in the graph. This is the nicest result, but does not work well with pdf latex.
